Stolen from Seattle Wireless:
Definition:
A Dx Node is a node that does not have any upstream connection. It is partitioned from the network, because the owner is starting out with one AccessPoint?, and doesn't have a link to another node yet. We expect a Dx Node to grow up to be a Cx Node at least. The only interface has an omnidirectional antenna that ClientNode?s connect to. ClientNode?s either connect as they would to an AccessPoint?, or as they would to a Cx Node.
Addressing:
Dx Node will have some kind of address space, as much as a /24, but assigned by hand, and not by an upstream node.
We expect a Dx Node to grow up to be a Cx Node, Bx Node, or even an Ax Node
