Here are the current Address Ranges assigned to Node Admins. If you want addressess assigned please contact Myron Davis. You can also just add addressess to the list, that would work as well.

IP Ranges will be allocated in the 10.119.x.x through the 10.127.x.x network. This address space has been reserved through freenetworks.org. By trying not to step on other wireless networks toes (see http://www.freenetworks.org/moin/index.cgi/NetworkAddressAllocations?action=show) someday in the future we can hopefully route with other community networks in other locations. On this page under links show what networks you connect to and see (either via VPN or via wireless).

Dynamic Routing

Routing will be done via OSPF or other protocols if needed. Assistance can be provided for OSPF configuration... or you can simple bridge connect to an existing node. All routers with be in "area 0", at until a point in time in the future it may make sense to migrate otherwise. With OSPF area 0 is the backbone. Later we can segment off other areas with new numbers ... but only if they can still directly connect to area 0.

What do I set my metrics to? Very simple: Take the number 100,000 then divide the interface speed by kbps. If the connection is wireless then add one point because of possible interference. Then if the connection is half-duplex multiple by 2, to find the speed of a connection that has a different upload/download speed add the upload and download speed together than divide it by two to find a more 'true' speed. If you are running quagga just set your bandwidth option equal to the speed of the interface! Here is an example for metrics for some common types of connections.
