Node One:
Currently this is my plan.
- purchase a state surplus laptop with 2 pcmcia slots. (or maybe a VIA C3 PCM-6892)
- Purchase 1 Senao SL-2511CD PLUS card
- Install linux w/ hostap to configure linux laptop as a accesspoint
- Install a additional ethernet connection to enclosure in basement (to switch)
- Purchase pigtail to connect up to existing omni. (if needed up 500mw amp but I don't think it will be necessary)
- Purchase 1 Senao SL-2511 (w/ no external connector) for my little sony laptop to connect to accesspoint.
- At this point my SSID should be seen very easily. If not, throw on the amp. Test with laptop for connectivity and range.
- Install an additional small sector for future use. (1 more ethernet connection need to be run to attic in addition to current two POE connections.
- Possibly need to replace existing cable to grid or omni as it is a stringed together cable w/ high loss.
Current in place:
- 1 2.4Ghz grid antenna
- 1 18-19db omni
- 1 500mw amp
- 1 WET11
- 2 POE connections from main enclosure/switches in basement
Current Equipment:
- 1 SMC2682W wireless bridge
- 1 Link Sys wireless router
- 1 WET11 Bridge
- several older 30mw Cable Tron cards
- 2 power injectors (POE) (installed)
- 5 2.4Ghz Grid Antennas (1 currently in use)
- 3-4 Large Omni's Antenna
- 1 Sector Antenna
- Several Chewed up Yagi's
- 5 Old proprietary AccessPoints/Bridges? (500mw)
